Merry Christmas to me!

Calling all recipes!! Jason surprised me this Christmas by getting me two BIG gifts. The first gift he got me is a new Kitchenaid Mixer! Now anyone who knows me very well knows why I don't already have one of these.... I'm not much of a cook! It's not that I'm necessarily a bad cook, it's just that I don't do it that often. But I've been starting to cook a lot more now that my kids are getting a little older and will sometimes even eat something I've cooked...

So far, I've made cookies and that's about it... pretty sad, I know...

Jason also surprised me with two gift certificates to go to a spa of my choice. Yippee! I've never been to a spa before and I can't wait to go. Any tips? Which is better, the facial... the body massage?... I can't wait to go and find out for myself!

This is what I got Jason for Christmas
... a pair of pajamas. Yep! That's it... In my defense, I had assumed that the new entertainment unit and tv we got a few months ago was our gift to each other for Christmas! Sorry Jay! I hope those pj's are really comfortable!

I've had a facial, but never a massage. If it were me, I'd have the massage!

I like your mixer...it looks much fancier than mine. Does it really lift the bowl up like that? Hmmm....I might have to ask Santa for one next year. :)

I have no recipes for mixers that aren't cookies. I didn't even know you could make other stuff with them (just kidding. . . but that's really all I would use one for).

James does that sort of thing to me all the time. He'll get me this big thing meanwhile telling me not to get him anything because he doesn't want anything and we need to save money anyway. Oh well. Just enjoy it!

If he really wants something he can go buy it himself. Wouldn't he technichly be buying it for himself anyway even if you got it for him? Or maybe you have a paying job other than the one known as MOTHER that I just don't know about. I have had both a massage and facial and strangely, I like the facial better. They kind of give you a massage of your arms and head and neck as well as your face. There's my opinion for what it is worth.

I have tons of recipes I can send you. I'll write out an email with some of my favorites. I too have a kitchenaid and love it! I would be lost without it. Yay for you! And the spa gift cert., well you had better get a full body massage and a facial. you wont be let down with the massage. Good luck to you.

my Doug, sweet man that he is, gave us a couples massage for our 15th anniversary 2 years ago, and a facial for Mother's Day this last year. I LOVED the massage...but I don't know that I could handle a couple's massage again ~ there is something oddly horrifying about another woman kneeling on and massaging your husband as he's stripped down to "his comfort level" under that sheet. It still makes me uncomfortable almost 2 years later. ;)

However, weighing the massage against the facial, the massage wins hands-down.

As for the mixer ~ when you get those recipes for things other than cookies, let me know. because cookies (and cakes) are all I can think of. Come to think of it, add them to your blog for all of us! ;)

Actually, you do cook up some really nice dishes! Who would have ever guessed the girl who literally grew up on Cheerios, Bean with Bacon soup and pizza could cook so many nice things.

so she wasn't KIDDING when she said that?!?! She really LIKES Bean & Bacon Soup?! Yikes!!

Here's a recipe I forgot about...it's along the same lines as cookies, but Y-u-m-m-y!

1 brick cream cheese
3/4 C. brown sugar
2 t. vanilla

beat all together until it's smooth and creamy...it will look like light caramel.

Dip apple slices (bananas are my favorite), pretzels, etc.

:)

that is hysterical about the pajamas!
that's what usually happens around here on christmas,
rob gives awesome presents and he usually ends up shopping for all the things he didn't get the week after christmas.
i have gotten better the last few years though.

hmmm... i don't have many recipes.
i do want a new fancy mixer next year for my new fancy kitchen.
i will probably use it once a year to make the mrs. fields chocolate chip cookies that i make for christmas. yum!

the woman who ate frozen pizza every sunday for sure and who knows what other days- got a mixer? Good for you! Let me make a comment when you do get good cookie recipes- eggs, and butter need to be room temperature- you will find your cookies go from being flat to having a nice round top. I got that on the food network this year and my cookies turned out great! Of course, massage hands down, however the facial is pretty relaxing too
PS Happy Bday to jason today- you can make up for christmas on his bday
