Soccer | Football - Fall 2010

Holy cow! That went by fast! I can't believe that the kids' football and soccer season are almost over. This has been one of my favorite seasons so far. The kids had such a great time playing and were actually excited to go to practices this year! Ethan really wanted to play tackle football this year, but I wasn't quite ready for that so I signed him up for one more year of flag and he really had fun! He even said that he was glad he played flag again this year because he learned so much.

We had a lot of sunny games this year, but a lot of rainy ones too.

Ethan had two touchdowns this year. The kid is really fast and a great cutter.

Audrey played soccer again this year and absolutely loved her team! She had so many of her good friends from school on her team and they had such a blast playing together!

Of course the tunnel at the end of the game is still one of the best parts of the game!

It was so great to have Grandma and Grandpa's come out and watch their games. The kids always love to have them there.

David is my side line buddy and he was such a trooper. He always finds some way to entertain himself! I think next year we'll let him have a go of it.

Our last game was the most dirty, MUDDY game of soccer I have ever seen, and I think it's safe to say that our girls are NOT afraid to get dirty! They loved every minute of it!

Uh-oh! Watch the elbow lady!

Coach Russ told the girls at the beginning that if they played really hard and weren't afraid to get dirty that he would let them cover him in mud at the end of the game. He was true to his word!

Grandpa got quite a few chuckles watching these girls try to play a game of soccer in this muddy field!

It took quite some time to get the girls clean enough to even get in the car. They were a mess, but we did it!

Fall Football and Soccer

Soccer and football season are coming to and end. It started out awesome with the most sunny and warm days, but ended a little cold and wet. No complaints though... it was a pretty fun season and both Ethan and Audrey had a lot of fun playing!

Audrey did really well and started out the season with a bang, however, a little more than half the way through the season she had a tough game where she got smacked in the face twice with the ball and so she seemed a little nervous after that. But all it took was a little bribary, in the form of candy, to bring back a little of that fire.

And running through the end of game tunnell is still one of the game highlights for Audrey.

Audrey played on the same team as her best friend, Aubrey, again this year. We wouldn't have it any other way!

Davie hanging out on the sidelines. Maybe next year we'll sign him up, but that's a very big maybe. The thought of three games to juggle on a Saturday sounds exhausting. Here's a cute pic of David playing catch with Grandma Kidd.

This was Ethan's first year playing football. Since he's never played before, we signed him up for flag football with Convington Sports to see what he thinks of it. He said he likes it waaaaaaay better than soccer. It was a bit intimidating for him at first since there were a lot of older kids on his team who seemed to already know what they were doing. But he listened well and practiced hard and at our last game, the coach came up to Jason and told him that Ethan was by far the most improved player he's seen in such a short amount of time. The coach also told Ethan that he went from being asleep to being a star.

I love going to games and watching the kids play. It is so much fun, but I'm also excited about having a little break for a bit.... at least until basketball starts up again!

Soccer season is winding down...

Both Ethan and Audrey wanted to sign up to play soccer again this fall and it has been a lot of fun this season. First of all, the weather has been AWESOME! We've had a few crazy games with rain and wind, but mostly just beautiful days....

I think both the kids improved this season. Of course, Audrey's best game was the game I told her that if she got a goal I would buy her an entire bag of M&M's. You should have seen that girl that day... she was on fire. She almost got a goal three times, but didn't quite make it. I gave her a bunch of M&M's anyway... just not the whole bag.

Here are just a few pictures from the season. We didn't take a lot... (I know!! That's just not like us!)

Sooooooooooooooo close!

Let the games begin!!

We were all excited when Ethan got his first goal of the season. I missed it but Jason told me all about it. Ethan was excited too, but nobody would have been able to tell. He just casually turned around and walked back to position like nothing happened. His buddy, Malcolm, came running to give him a high five and Ethan just gave him a casual low five. He hates all the attention, but there was definatley a hidden smirk on his face.

Can't believe it's almost over! Audrey's last game is next Saturday! Ethan's league goes a few weeks longer.

Soccer Season Again!

"You can't just beat a team, you have to leave a lasting impression in their minds so they never want to see you again." ~Mia Hamm

It's soccer season again, which means all of our Saturday's for the next two months will be spent at the middle school watching Ethan and Audrey play soccer! We've been very lucky that our first three weeks have been rain free and we hope it lasts.

Ethan got his first goal of the season today! At his level, he and his teamates have come to realize that it's not as easy to score goals as it used to be!

Audrey is very enthusiastic about everything she tries and soccer is no different. She loves to get right in there! Of course, she still thinks the best thing about playing soccer are the treats at the end of the game and the trophy at the end of the season!

David has been a trooper and has finally got the hang of watching soccer. He now gets that he's not allowed to roam onto the soccer field and he's quite content to stay off if he has a little bag of crackers or someone (like cousins Meagan, Hannah, or Dallin) to play with him!
