So Sunday late afternoon, we decided we needed to get Ethan to Urgent Care. He had been dealing with a headache and stomach pains for the last day of so and definately hadn't had an appetite for close to 24 hours. Other than his horrible headache, he seemed okay until Sunday afternoon when he started really complaining about his stomach hurting really bad. We kept trying to get him to take fluids and when he would try he would throw it up immediately.After a few hours and after he started crying in pain we decided that something was definately not right and Jason took him down to Urgent Care. It turns out that he was highly dehydrated. He went through two bags of saline and after the first one
his color was finally coming back, and he was even able to smile and joke around a little. We're glad he's doing much better! He was even in the mood for a slurpee on the way home. Jason took a few pictures of Ethan's ordeal with his phone.This morning he seems to be doing better. For the first part of the morning, he was extremely dizzy, but I called the nurse and they said that is typical with the virus and that I just need to make sure he is taking in small amounts of fluid frequently. It is always a little unsettling seeing your kid in so much pain!
He's now feeling much better and even felt like playing a little Lego Batman and having some crackers with his juice.

Whew! After you called about his trip to Urgent Care and the all the IV fluids he was getting, I felt a little weak myself. Poor guy. And I am impressed that Jason was able to take a picture of his IV and all that blood! Aren't we grateful for living in a country that has good medical care.
Wow... you can tell in the picture that he feels like crap!!! That's so brave of him to get an IV, and boy was it messy!! I'm really getting the itch to go back to working in the ER!! I can't beleive a kid his age took 2 whole bags of fluid! That's all they gave my sister when she was bleeding out! Amazing, huh? I hope he conts to feels better and no one else picks up the bug, esp little David!! Jason's phone takes such good pix!!!
Such a sad experience. Poor Ethan. I'm glad he's feeling better though. what a scare!

Malcolm was worried about Ethan being sick -- we didn't even know HOW sick! Glad he's almost back to his old self now. What a bummer!!!
too scary! I was thinking you were going to tell us he got his appendix out. Yikes! Those are the moments that being a parent seems like a nightmare.
