Bike Rodeo

Last Saturday we went to the Maple Valley Bike Rodeo that was held at the kids' elementary school. The kids learned bicycle safety from a really nice police officer and then they rode on a little bike course complete with a stop light, rocks, a stop sign and a cross walk. Ethan is starting to get a little old for this, but he had a lot of fun this year helping Davie. We go every year and most years they have a drawing to win a new bike. This year we were soooooooo close! We were only off by one number! But since we already have nice bikes, we were very happy for the winner!

David was oh-so-thrilled to see that the firetruck was here again. He can't get enough of it. It was just sitting there in all it's glory with nobody taking advantage of it, so as soon as David got there the firemen were more than happy to take Ethan, Audrey, and David on their own personal tour. They let them climb all over it like it was a jungle gym and press all sorts of buttons! The firemen were so nice and the kids thought they were so coooooooool.

Towards the end of the rodeo, the kids wanted to go and listen to them do the drawing for the new bike, but David didn't want to leave the firetruck so one of the kind firemen offered to watch David and let him keep playing on the truck while I went off with the bigger kids. David was more than happy to stay and keep playing.

Oh man! He's so cute it hurts! Here is David listening to Ethan talk to him through the headphones.

Buckling up for safety...

Ready, Set, GO!

David manuvering the exciting rock obstacle after some tips from his big brother Ethan...

I just love how David got off and walked his bike across the crosswalk portion just like all the other kids did. So cute!

David feeling so proud to be one of the big boys.

They even had free chips and water and juice for all the kids! Say CHEESE!

It was fun even though it rained on us for a short time and I'm glad I decided to leave my messy house and go.

I'm glad you went, too! It's really a fun thing to do. I'm sad that some of our kids are getting too old for it. I wonder how long Davie & Dana will let us drag them to it... ;)

What fun! David looks like he is in his glory with the firetruck, the big boys and the bikes. I just don't want him to grow up.

Love your blog!!! I am not very good at keeping mine up and every once in a while I will take a couple of hours it seems and check out everyone elses. Your pictures are amazing! You do a great job of capturing the moment that tells the whole story. Oh.....when I see pictures of you I want to say how much you and Angie look alike. Especially now that she has dark hair. I can't quite figure out what it is but....you do.
