This weekend I had the honor of attending my Grandpa, Arthur Lee's, funeral. It was so wonderful to be there with all of my family to honor a man who taught us by example the meaning of hard work, dedication, integrity, and unconditional love. Our family alone filled the entire chapel and it was so neat to see us all standing as my Uncle Jan read off each of our names. I enjoyed hearing all of the stories about Grandpa again and it just reminded me of what an amazing man he was. I wonder what it was that I did to be lucky enough to be part of this Lee family. I feel truly blessed.
I didn't know how to describe this special day so that I would remember it years later, but at the grave dedication, My Uncle Ed shared a letter he received from President Nelson, a man who my Grandfather loved, and who also loved my Grandfather, and I loved it so much that I wanted to include his words here.
What a great service yesterday. I thought about it over and over all night long. I found myself wishing that I could just be with all of the Lee family and ask them a million questions. I don't believe that I have ever been in a Church meeting that I enjoyed more than your Dad's funeral. The music was great. The talks were so thoughtful, well prepared and delivered with such a powerful Spirit. I either laughed or cried (mostly cried) through the whole service. What a great tribute that chapel full of posterity is to your mom and dad. I couldn't believe your mother---getting up there and giving that talk like she did. All of the talks were just great.
I kept trying to think all night of how I would describe your father. He was a very ordinary man in unimportant things, and an extremely extraordinary man in important things. I'm satisfied with that description. I love all of the Lees and our family has been blessed in so many ways by all of you. God bless all of you. ~ President Nelson
All seven of my Grandparents sons were pallbearers.
I thought I was all done with the tears for the day until I was scrolling through the pictures on my camera and came across this one.

I love this shot because it shows all seven of my Grandma's sons walking back toward her showing that she is not alone. She still has seven great men in her life.

We were so grateful for (and felt a little sorry for) the ward that gave us this wonderful luncheon after the funeral service. It was like pulling off a ward social in three days.
Introducing the FamiLee Boyz singing "Little Joe the Wrangler", one of Grandpa's favorites.
Me and my awesome cousins, Anne-Marie and Lili.

Dedicatory Prayer at the Tahoma National Cemetary where Grandpa will be buried.

Grandma singing with the family, "When There's Love at Home".
My cousin, Aaron, was able to present the United States flag to my Grandma.

Not all widows get a big hug from the military after the flag presentation.
This is just a portion of the entire family that was able to be at the funeral service the day prior.

I, too, love that quote of President Nelson that you closed with. It fits him perfectly. I love this post! I sure hope he got to look down on the funeral, festivities at the luncheon and the gravesite dedication. I think his heart would have been touched.
wow. that's all. just wow.
This is so beautiful! These are by far my favorite photos you have ever taken. They are full of so many mixed emotions. I will be stealing some of these for my blog! Thank you so much for taking the time to capture such a special day. My love for our family grew so much stronger after this weekend. We must have scored some extra points on the other side to be related to such an amazing man. My heart is still full of so much love and emotion. It was really nice seeing you.
