This week I went on a field trip with Audrey's class to see the Salmon Hatchery in Issaquah. We had a great time and Audrey's friends are so much fun to be around. Such fun girls!
Unlike the time I went with Ethan, there weren't a lot of salmon to see, but the few that we did were HUGE. The largest I have ever seen!
On our tour we learned all about the amazing life of a salmon, we got to feed some trout, and even saw some adult salmon begin returning to the hatchery. The salmon return via Issaquah Creek in late August and early September. As many as 10,000 to 20,000 salmon may return before the runs are over. Here is one trying to make it's way back. He's almost there!

On our drive home we stopped at the Gibbon's General Store and Fire Station. This is the restored store of the Greater Maple Valley area that was frequented by early residents back in the early 1900's. The Fire Engine museum houses the restored 1926 Howard Cooper Fire Engine which was the original Fire Engine used by Fire District 43 Volunteers.
I am always facinated by history and how people used to lived so I thought this place was a lot of fun!

Cool! I didn't know that old store was there. I'll have to visit it sometime. :) As usual, great pictures.
Looks fun!! I remember Brian took Jsaon trout fishing last time we were up there and there were hundreds of huge dead trout al over his backyard!!!
That general store looks awesome! Love all the retro signage & the fruit boxes. What a fun field trip, and so glad you got to go.
