Today for Audrey's birthday we celebrated by taking her and her friends skating at the TLC Skate & Fun Center! It was many of the kids first time on skates and they all did great! The "skating" mostly consisted of slow walking next to the wall, but by the end of the night they were all venturing off the wall and "skating" on their own. It did, however, take a good 5-10 minutes to make a lap! The older kids, of course, were speed demons. Audrey even participated in the Holky Polky with her dad and Ethan. I'm glad that it was only two hours though, because I don't think they could have lasted much longer than that... although it did take a good while to get everyone's skates fitted and laced up! (Something I forgot to consider....)After our evening of skating, we all came back here for pizza, mojos, cake, ice cream, trampoline, and presents! Audrey was pleased with all her new Webkinz she got and has been playing with them all night long!
Thanks everyone who came and made Audrey's day special! We love you!

How fun! I'll bet they all had a really good time.
I was up and read this originally at about 2:00 a.m. and after I went back to bed I dreamed that I was roller skating! Haha! I used to love roller skating and I was really good. When I turned 23 a friend and I had a joint roller skating party and I was not so good anymore. I wiped out and all the little kids zooming by me laughed at me. I was sooo humiliated!
Hey, what are mojos?
mary,
you haven't tried shakey's mojos?
they were a favorite of jasons and mine when we worked at shakeys in high school!
they're potato slices that are battered and fried. yummy!. don't ask me how i stayed so thin in high school...
ps. i would have loved to have see you skate back in the good ol' days! ;)
Happy Birthday Audrey! What a fun party, and the food sounds delicious.
When I was about 6, we had a ward skating party. I was scared to be on skates, so my mom held both my hands & I skated in front of her. She lost her balance, we both fell, and my top lip got caught in her skate. It took 2 people to figure out how to get my lip released & there was blood everywhere, it was gross. I have never been skating since, and don't plan to ever again. Talk about trauma! :)
oh no jaime! that does sound traumatic! glad we didn't have any mishaps like that!... probably just a few bruised rear ends! ;)
again with the great cement wall...what is it about a great cement wall that just makes a picture come alive?! Our kids had a great time, and we THANK YOU for hosting such a FUN party! (even though it pains you to great degrees of unpleasantness)
what a fun party!
